Our Mission Statement
Our mission and goal at the Northeast Pennsylvania Libertarian
Party is to inspire others to get involved and spread the message of
just how main stream the Libertarian Party really is.
We mean to
keep it simple, and as you research our candidates and positions, we
think you will find that the Libertarian Party is truly the Common
Sense Party.
The backbone, the cornerstone of the Libertarian
Party is our belief in the Constitution, Limited Government, and
Individualism. Our government needs to be fiscally responsible. It
needs to be open, honest, and transparent. (See the 5 day Pledge)
We
not only have a right but an obligation to question its policies. We
want our government to stay out of peoples private lives in so much as
it does not interfere with the health and well being of others.
Our government has a responsibility to protect and defend its citizens. This means a strong military.
Where
we part company with the Democrats and Republicans is that when we do
ask our military to be engaged abroad, it is done so with an Act of
Congress as prescribed by our Constitution.
We do not believe our military should be used as the world's police force.
